Keynote Speaker

Sylvie Descartes (Dr. -Ing, HDR) is an academic senior researcher at INSA Lyon, in France. She carries out her research activities (fundamental and applied) in tribology at the LaMCoS laboratory. She is working mainly on the relationship between interface properties/structure, interface rheology and tribological properties. She also works on the developments of in situ or operando methodology and tools to measure local physical parameters within dry contacts. Sylvie Descartes has published numerous papers on various topics. She has been and still is involved in several scientific committees of national and international congresses. Since 2023 she is member of the Board of Directors of the “Fédération Française des Matériaux” (a federation of 25 academic societies) ; she was appointed vice president, representing the french community for tribology, on International Tribology Council (ITC).
