You can submit as many abstracts to the conference for review as you would like. If, after the review by the committee, you have more than one paper accepted for the conference, you will need to register to attend and pay an additional paper fee for each additional paper (i.e., for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th papers – not the 1st). Please note this is for papers that you are the presenting author of, not papers that you are co-author of.
Notes for authors
At least one author of the accepted abstract must register to attend the meeting to present your work and answer questions. Only talks and posters of registered participants will be scheduled in the programme.
You will give a live talk in parallel with your slides at a scheduled time and take questions from our audience. Note is a condition of all oral presenters to submit a manuscript, please see further details below.
Your poster will be assigned a poster board in the hall and should be displayed during your allocated time. Further details will be sent to you closer to the date. Successfully submitted abstracts will be acknowledged with an electronic receipt including an abstract reference number, which should be quoted in all correspondence. Allow at least 2 hours for your receipt to be returned to you
If the abstract is accepted, a full manuscript (“Research Paper” or “Case Studies”) must be submitted by 10 September 2024. Instructions on where to submit the manuscript will be provided in the abstract acceptance email. This manuscript will be peer-reviewed, and only upon final acceptance for publication in the special issue of WEAR, can it be presented orally. All manuscripts will then be assigned to certain category-field editors by the editorial chairman and forwarded to a minimum of two reviewers. This process has proved to be fast and reliable during prior WoM conferences. The entire reviewing, editing, and revising process will only be handled via Elsevier’s online submission system. No parallel routes or shortcuts are accepted.
The final deadline for acceptance will be 7 February 2025. The acceptance of a paper after peer-review is absolutely mandatory in order for an oral presentation at WOM2025. The acceptance of a paper is optional for poster presentations.
Poster sessions reporting new research results will also be held on several days during the program. Posters should include sufficient characterization of materials, topography and test method specifications so that other researchers can duplicate the experiments. In order to be included in the Conference Program and website as poster (without paper), abstracts must be submitted via the WOM2025 website no later than 7 February 2025.
(Final manuscript, if accepted, 5-10 double spaced pages, including figures):
These contributions should be specific to an application or service, failure analysis, or solutions to specific wear-related problems. Papers in this category should clearly describe the service or application in sufficient detail to define the issues and solutions and must include characterization of materials, topography and test methods.
The editorial team for the peer review process will determine the top three manuscripts and the poster session team will determine the top three posters presented at WOM. These selections and their authors will be recognized with awards during the conference.
The conference language is English; SI units must be used, and papers must be original contributions, not containing material previously published or accepted for publication elsewhere
If you do not receive acknowledgement for your abstract submission or you wish to make any essential revisions to an abstract already submitted, please DO NOT RESUBMIT your abstract, as this may lead to duplication. Please emai thel Conference Content Executive: Content-WEAR@elsevier.com, (please do not email credit card information under any circumstances) with details of any revisions or queries. Please quote your reference number if you have one.
